Guatemala holds a special place in my heart. We have partnered with Casas por Cristo on about ten home builds now. We have worked side by side with many of the homeowners building a small house in about four days. 

“Hope Lives Here” and “A Ride to Remember” are both inspired from our travels to Guatemala. 

 

The cover of “Hope Lives Here” perfectly depicts the thoughts behind the book. We passed these kids every day on our way to build a house and wondered how they felt when the house we were building was not for them, but for their neighbors.

  

 What an amazing day it is when we have the home dedication! It’s a very special day when the homeowner realizes the home is actually theirs. No longer will they need to sleep on dirt floors or look through holes in their tin roof. Everyone is happy and many tears of joy are shed. We have been to many home dedications where they cook a special Mayan traditional meal with chicken. It’s an honor to have this meal.
