Not just another boring newsletter (I hope!) - February Newsletter 2026

Not just another boring newsletter (I hope!)
Welcome to my February newsletter!  I hope you were able to download When the Earth Trembled last month. I released it a few years ago and did an extensive edit. It'll be a good read for these cold Winter days.

Some Fun days to celebrate in February: February 1 - Change Your Password Day: From privacysavvy.com, for those who used common passwords like “password,” “abcdef” and “123456” know that in 2021, “123456” appeared as the easiest-to-crack password, taking hackers less than one second to crack. Remember that next time you set up your new password.Feb 7 - National Periodic Table Day – I like this element the best!

Feb 11 - National Inventors' Day – Celebrate the brilliant minds that dream, tinker and ask the question “what if…” Try a new experiment, invent something, do something creative. Maybe even bring your kids/grandkids to visit your local library’s makerspace. (I only recently found out what a makerspace was! It’s basically all my crafts in one area!) Feb 17 – Random Act of Kindness Day – Practice kindness and pay it forward. Compliment a friend, help a neighbor, smile at a stranger, bring a meal….it’s limitless. If you want to double up, Feb 16th is Do a Grouch a Favor Day.Feb 26 – Carpe Diem Day – Seize the day! Don't get caught up in shoulda, woulda, coulda.... Remember that the only real moment we have is now. Embrace it. Celebrate the joys and opportunities that life has given us. Have those adventures you've always dreamed about! Live large. It's a great day to be grateful!

Adventures AheadI am currently working on final edits on my new middle grade book MakerSpace Mysteries – Trouble over Turtle Cove and an escape room/scavenger hunt classroom activity to do in conjunction with the book to have it ready for an upcoming conference in March to pitch to agents. More info to follow.Once I complete this, I plan to re-edit When the River Cried Out, the sequel to When the Earth Trembled and re-release that again.  If I can get all the edits done, I plan to release the revised sequel in conjunction with Groundwater Awareness Week, the second full week in March, or Clean Drinking Water Week during the first week of May. May seems more realistic, but more to follow on that as well. As you may recall, in my personal/non-writing life, my goal this year is to have one cool adventure every month. January’s Cool Adventure was a trip to visit my daughter to see the ABBA tribute concert. Oh my goodness! What fun! We started out with dinner at Mellow Mushroom then on to the concert where we were Dancing Queens for the night!

I would love to hear about your adventures, no matter how big or how small! So, that's it for this month. Take time to enjoy some tea, read a good book, and celebrate some fun holidays. Thanks for being part of this storytelling adventure!

With curiosity and hope,
